Tigerlily – A Schweenie Searching for a New Pack

When my bro said things were about to get really awesome, I’m sure he was referring to my arrival in his life. He had to wait awhile, but you have to wait for all good things, right? Almost a year after Tad Cooper joined my momma’s pack, they realized something was missing. An adorable little Shih Tzu Dachshund girl!

I don’t like to think too much about the BB time (before bro), but I was a year old when I ended up at the humane society. They tried to make me comfortable, but it was still a pretty scary place! Needless to say, when my momma came in for the first time with my future bro, I was a little on edge.

He seemed nice enough, but he was a giant! In no time at all I had been packed up and sent home with my new momma. Tad Cooper was waiting for me at home, but we didn’t get to play much in the early days on account of my donut necklace.

They did something to my belly at the humane society and momma didn’t want me to lick it. At first she put a plastic cone on my head, but I screamed! That thing was super terrifying! So momma found me the donut necklace. It was great. I could play with squeaky balls (super cool toys!) and even use it as a pillow during nap time.

My new home gives me all sorts of new opportunities. Momma lets me go outside on a schedule to “potty”. That’s fine, but I like to multitask so when I go out to potty I do other stuff too. Sometimes a leaf blows by and I’m deep in thought, chasing it and wondering how fast I have to run to catch up with it and if I catch up with it can I eat it? Momma stands at the door saying “Go potty!” Like I forget. Then a butterfly goes by and I dance after it to check that out too because what if it needs help?

Once my bro and I could start playing, we never wanted to stop! From the time we get up in the morning until when we go to bed at night, we’re rolling around or playing with toys. I’m not sure what he ever did without me.

After I got comfortable in my new home I had to start voicing my opinion about certain things. My bro takes things in stride, like he’s okay if momma’s a little late with dinner. I believe in being pro-active, so I let momma know right when it’s time to eat, or a little earlier so she can prepare herself mentally. And if it’s getting close to walk time I’ll let her know that too. Sometimes if she’s taking too long with the harnesses or putting my bowl on the floor I have to give her a bit of verbal encouragement. Just to let her know she’s on the right path, but she needs to move down that path faster. I’m not sure she always understands my words of wisdom, or that bro truly appreciates them, but the three of us are a great team anyway!

An extraordinary team

I know you’re really probably wondering what a puppy dragon is, and I promise we’re almost there.
