Did you know dachshunds are really great at singing? It came as a huge surprise to my momma, that’s for sure! When you move to a new place it can be rough to really get comfortable. I’ve been in my home now for almost a year, and only recently did I let my momma in on a little secret. I’m a music nut. I LOVE watching music videos on phones and riding around in the car just listening to some tunes. My favorites are the oldies (from the ’60’s) and Taylor Swift. What can I say, her music just makes me howl! Here’s a picture of me where I like to sing and enjoy music the most – in the car!

Sitting on my throne in the car
It all started by mistake. Momma was yodeling to get Tad Cooper’s attention (as usual some squirrel was mocking him and he was having a barking fit) and I decided I’d join in. Momma stopped mid yodel and started laughing! I thought that was a little rude. My yodel was spot on, but hers really needed some work. I wasn’t laughing at her singing. Anyway, she gave me a cookie to make up for her rudeness and we started singing again.
Since then momma and I like to sing together. Tad Cooper really doesn’t get what’s so great about singing and hasn’t joined in yet. Personally, I think he’s just a little shy. I’m sure someday he’s going to join us. He already hopped on the bandwagon for the Dachshund Emergency Alert System that I suggested. We both make sure momma hears the the tornado siren when they run tests. Neither one of us wants to get blown away by a tornado! But anyway, back to singing. Someday the spirit will move him and he just won’t be able to resist belting out a tune!
Until then I’m OK with singing on my own (or with momma). I’m working on recording some of my sweet singing – I’ll let you know when it’s ready!
