It’s almost time for my AKC Trick dog test. If I can do 20 tricks in one night I could go right from Novice level to Intermediate. It’s a little intimidating, but I’m pretty sure I can do it. I’ve been practicing non-stop. My “get in the box” trick is right on target:

Performing the intense “get in the box” trick
Let’s face it – I’ve had the “high five” trick down for a few months now. I’ll shake your hand any time, and kisses are so easy (and did I mention learning how to do this one was especially delicious? Momma broke out the peanut butter!). I’ve been spinning in circles since I took Canine Freestyle, and fetching since I was a wee little pup.
Once you get to the Intermediate list of tricks things get a little dicier. Paws up on my momma’s arm is super easy, so I’ve got that one down at least. Catch is really easy too since my Mema made me the greatest toy to practice this one. It’s a short little rope that’s the perfect size for catching (For me at least – my sister tried catching it and couldn’t quite get it in her mouth). I can totally roll over, but there isn’t any carpet at the testing place and who wants to roll around on a hard floor? Balancing a treat on my head seems like a really silly thing to do when I could just eat it. I tried this trick when my sister was around and the treat fell off my head and she ATE it! Seriously, silliest trick ever.
Okay, looking at the list again I think I’m going to shoot for Novice this week. I’ll save Intermediate for the last week of class, after all, a dachshund has to have goals.
